"Klingon Bird Of Prey fruit pack from Green Strawberry was a vital addition"

Most of the resin parts were reasonably easy to cut from the supports. The removal of the wing radiator grills were a little tricky but can be found on the 'How to' videos section of Green Strawberry site.

Wings

The port wing joint went on well. Unfortunately due to the general delicate nature of the wing joint the hinges snapped off on the starboard side so I had to fashion a substitute. There is a box shape on the photo etch side panel plates on the ship side of the hinge that indicates where the hinge should go. Though lining up the wing edge to the middle of the fuselage I found I had to glue the hinge lower. For the engine I assembled that as one piece.

Model

Airbrushing the orange and yellow clear and metallic grey as I went along. The instructions to cut the kit parts were straight forward and I didn't encounter any problems along the way. For my own lighting I Just had to cut space for the windows. Not an easy task and makes me wish I could afford a sonic knife. This would have definitely made short cleaner work of the windows.

Photo etch

The application of the photo etch on the photon surround at the head of the ship was fairly easy as I slowly sanded away the kit area testing the photo etch placement as I did so. As I wanted the wing guns to fire flash I had to cut the nice resin barrels off. Replacing them with 2 and 1 mm carbon fiber hollow rods. The ends of the cannon were hand drilled to accommodate the tiny surface mounted leds. The cannon detail were glued onto the barrels. The only problem I had was with the detail photo etch of the underside of both radiator grill covers. Following the instructions I assembled the photo etch as shown but could not understand how it was placed on the model. The set does come with photo etch to replace the 'boxes' at the base of the neck of the ship. After trying them I found them too large. Looking at the actual shooting model, the smaller kit parts seem more accurate to me though, the sidewalls are a little thick and would need a little sanding.

The instructions were to me, confusing. An actual clear picture of the piece in place might have helped. So I had to kit bash this area using other parts in my spares stash.

Conclusion

All in all the Klingon Bird Of Prey fruit pack from Green Strawberry was a vital addition to accurately bring this 30 year old model up to date with the current Star Trek 1:350 ship line from AMT Round 2. Recommended.
